Every great campaign begins with an idea that sparks the creative process. Equipped with a clear understanding of strategy, audience, and brand purpose, students leverage industry trends and begin to concept these big ideas. Guided by the brand brief, students practice skills of copywriting and art direction to execute original solutions to brand problems.
In this studio course, students are introduced to professional standard sewing techniques and apparel construction. Through assignments, the fundamental techniques are applied and explored to study proper garment construction and execution.
In this introductory course, students learn the terminology for on-camera acting and practice the precise and subtle techniques for film and television performance. They analyze characters and scene structure to create believable characters within specific dramatic or comedic contexts. Through exposure to a variety of genres, students gain confidence in modulating performance styles for the camera.
Creating concepts and explaining ideas, style, and technique though storyboards are essential skills for the motion media designer. In this course, students learn how to conceptualize and visualize motion graphic storyboards with digital techniques as required in the professional world.
Professional illustrators strategically solve visual problems to engage clients and markets. While discovering strategies for effective visual communication, students explore the illustration process through creative application of distinct materials and techniques. Students conceptualize the framework of their portfolios within the context of professional expectations.
Through the collaborative stages of digital film production, students acquire the terminology, skills, and techniques to visually tell stories. As they create their first film, students take on a variety of roles, learning the fundamentals of script development and preproduction, camera, lighting, and sound techniques, and editing.
This course provides a foundation in the practices and materials associated with painting, and prepares students to work in oil- and water-based media. Working from direct observation, students develop an understanding of formal concerns as well as paint manipulation to produce strong representational paintings.
Students develop an understanding of the organizational methods used in 2D work. They utilize the elements and principles of design while working in black-and-white and color media. Problem-solving processes and research are integrated into the development, refinement, and evaluation of images. The work of professionals in a variety of art and design fields is analyzed to understand the application of 2D design. The importance of presentation and craftsmanship is emphasized.
An introduction to the profession of interior design, this course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the role of the interior designer and the scope of the profession. Lectures, discussions, problem-solving, and design application allow the student to explore interior design as both a creative process and a profession.
Unlocking the pathways of animation, students begin their journeys toward a professional career. Immersed in the animation process, students gain an overview of both 2D and 3D production workflows, resulting in the creation of their first film.
Students learn basic skills and techniques for drawing from direct observation using subjects such as still life, landscape, and architecture. The depiction of form, light, and spatial depth is emphasized along with accurate proportion and scale. Research tools such as thumbnail sketches, quick studies, sketchbooks, and digital resources are used to develop ideas. Analysis of drawings, critiques, and classroom discussions build vocabulary and enrich the students’ understanding of drawing.
This course combines studio work with classroom instruction. Fundamental components of design theory and typography are incorporated with problem definition to provide students with valuable experience in the ideation, research, execution, and presentation of projects. Lectures and visual media provide a broad introduction to the visual communication professional field.
Photographs from phones and tablets now play a major role in social media and everyday communication. While everyone knows how to use these cameras, relatively few of those doing so make images of clarity and sophistication. This course focuses on making incisive, intelligent, and well-composed photographs with mobile devices. It also covers all aspects of the technology, including apps, in-camera processing, computer postproduction, video technology, printing, and social media usage.
Students examine the fundamentals of production design, including costume, set, and lighting. Emphasis is placed on the importance of these elements to the communication of story in film, television, theater, and themed entertainment productions.
This course introduces students to the theories and profession of architecture and encourages creative and analytical thought. By considering the entire scope of the discipline and the profession, the course focuses on developing an ability to ask appropriate questions in relation to decision making regarding the built environment. Students explore the abstract, spatial, social/cultural, environmental, and tectonic concepts that affect the built environment.
Designers employ a range of technology solutions to convey the aesthetics, use, and performance of product design solutions. In this course, students analyze project parameters to create 2D and 3D digital renderings and models that enhance design communication, efficiency, and quality. Students generate computer models of products for rapid prototyping, using 3D printers and CNC technologies.
Digital photography is a powerful communication tool central to a variety of creative careers. While experimenting with manual camera controls and digital workflow in the context of professional conventions, students explore imaginative visual communication applications and dynamic career trajectories within fine art, advertising, and editorial photography.
This course introduces students to the industrial design profession. Lectures, discussions, and problem-solving exercises explore industrial design as a creative process, examine its history, and provide insight into professional opportunities in the field.

Based on the applicant’s role(s), portfolios are reviewed on the following qualitative measures including but not limited to: story progression, color perception, aesthetic awareness, conceptualism, presentation, technique, and originality.
Students whose academic or professional background is in business or another field may choose to submit GMAT or GRE scores in lieu of a portfolio. Students admitted on the basis of test scores will be assigned graduate intensive course work during the admission review process.
Each project must include inspiration or mood boards, fabric and materials, color, consumer profile, sketchbook and process development, evidence of material exploration, fashion sketching, mock-ups, illustrations and flats, and photographic and/or video documentation of realization (muslin development and final garments).
The submission must include documentation of the design process (ideation, research, sketches, development, and final execution). Documentation of the passion project must include all elements listed above, as well as a 2-minute video presentation in which the applicant discusses the work.
Demonstrating the visualization of concepts and communication through a variety of media and forms. Multi-component systems will be considered as one example. At least one project must include typographic execution in large quantities (min of 1,000 words) including headlines, subheadings, and body copy. (This work must evidence an understanding and application of western typographic rules and expression.)
The submission must include documentation of the design process (ideation, research, sketches, development, and final execution). Choose a subject that you are passionate about and design a multi-component (3 minimum) system. Integration of media (digital and analog) and media delivery diversity (print, environment, 3-D, screen/web) are encouraged where conceptually appropriate.
In addition to the finished pieces, the portfolio must include 3 to 4 pieces of illustration process work (preliminary work, such as conceptual/formal studies, which resulted in the final work in the portfolio).
The portfolio must include 3 to 4 drawings from life-drawing classes and/or direct observation, as well as work from a personal sketchbook or journal.
Applicants who intend to focus on game art and level design should include concept art, videos of playable game levels, 3-D rendered stills, or video flythroughs of detailed environments.
Applicants who intend to focus on game design should show 3 to 5 original designs in digital or non-digital format including rule sets (if applicable), samples of design documentation, and supporting critical analysis.
Portfolios should include work from all phases of design: conceptual and process drawings, sketches, perspectives, and technical drawings. Work should demonstrate proficiency in the technical requirements of interior design projects, including codes, interior building systems and construction, lighting, interior materials, and sustainability as fundamental components of the interior built environment.
Portfolios must submit a university-level research paper with a minimum of 10 pages. Topics should be contemporary, impacting the future of the interior design profession and demonstrate the applicant’s critical thinking, analytical, and writing skills.
The applicant’s statement of purpose should be no more than two pages and include references to the applicant’s reasons for seeking the degree and career.

需要申主校Rotaman是要录视频的。你首先要有个电脑可以有摄像头和麦克风,网速要好。一Video和两个Essay。一个是100字20分钟内写完,一个是250字30分钟写完。题目我记得我当时做的事,你最尊敬的人,和珍惜的物品。video是 make an impression的一次经历。一分钟准备录两分钟。然后随便写个Feedback就可以了。其实准备充分问题不大的
我目前是utm大三ccit和eco的double major的学生,高中从多伦多毕业,大一的时候来到mississauga这个陌生的城市感觉很孤独,后来慢慢认识了学校里的同学。每天一起泡图书馆复习,一起赶due,一起打狼人杀。可以说是一段痛并快乐着的经历哈哈哈。给utm4星可能就是因为mississauga这边实在没啥好吃的吧 :)))
2009年进多大,2013年Rotman毕业…太多想说的反倒没什么可说,主校区百余栋建筑没谁在毕业前走过;忘不了Robarts门口每日定点守候的餐车;透过图书馆落地窗看过的日升日落… 反正是人生中最难忘怀的4年。
2012-2016在utm度过 整个学校坐落在森林里 比较安静 而且经常能看见野生的鹿在学校里走 比较酷眩。教学楼都很新 有些在我走的时候还在建造 现在估计造完了 所以设施来说没得说。gym也是多大三个校区里最好的 可是平时比较懒 没怎么去~ 对于周边生活来说 吃饭的点无非黄金广场周边那几家 最近也有新开几家别的餐厅 可以叫FoodHwy点餐平台 也算比较方便啦。逛街的话有sq1 但是相比起来我还是prefer稍远一点的sherwaygarden 那个mall超高大上 推荐一下~ 总体来说在utm的四年下来还是很愉快的。推荐五星好评~ 有miss的大小事可以滴滴我 wx:309437451
多大有三个校区,外面都传言两个分校比较水,但实际去过才会知道一点都不简单!每学期都有学长跟我说有水课,但教授出题仍然难得要死,天天都在忙着赶due ,所谓的简单只是相对于那些学霸来说的。要是想拿个不错的成绩,天天熬夜就更是少不了的,考试之前基本就是每天睡在图书馆的
